CGiX at Rothschild Private Management Ltd
I have worked with Financial Software Ltd. since the early 1990s and have watched the CGiX Capital Gains Tax (CGT) solution being built from scratch up to its current status of excellence. Core to the software is the separate legislation and corporate action databases that enable a full and accurate audit of all historical trades and changes to portfolios. Changes to legislation can easily be built on to the software platform and there is a daily comprehensive coverage of both UK and foreign corporate actions, with book cost apportionments made by reference to the UK legislation on CGT. The system is very configurable and can be used to add bespoke corporate actions and can encompass gains or losses from outside the portfolio.
The core CGiX product is an immensely powerful tool to cope with the many complex rules on CGT and provide accurate CGT reporting with a full audit trail. There are a number of reconciliation and short sale reports and dealing transactions can be very easily mapped from any Investment Management system. In my experience as long as the underlying trade data is of a good quality, the figures from CGiX are immensely accurate and I have not seen any other system that gives this quality of information. The CGiX Indexed CGT report provides all the information at a glance that can be directly lifted on to the CGT pages of a client's tax return.
The personnel who work for Financial Software have always been very customer orientated and willing to provide speedy and comprehensive back up on CGiX and CGT queries in general. The developers are continually striving to update and improve the technical platform and resultant client service provided. I would not hesitate to recommend CGiX to any organisation seeking an automated solution to provide accurate, comprehensive information on both Unrealised CGT gains and losses and Actual CGT gains and losses, incorporating both indexation and Taper Relief where applicable.
